"Adagio for a Rhododendron," which was commissioned by Fran Breithaupt
as a gift for her husband Paul to celebrate their new Victorian guest house
in Creemore, was inspired by the music of Strauss and Mahler.
As
I listened to these great composers, my painting seemed to take on
a life of its own and I began to envision a corps de ballet – a tableau
of beautiful ballerinas en pointe, moving gracefully in a circle.
This work was one of the most joyful paintings experiences I’ve ever
had
in my life, and I could tell my joy was shared when I saw the look on
Fran’s face as she viewed her painting for the first time.
