What's the difference between
a coloured drawing and a painting?

Generally, a coloured drawing is done in one sitting,
which is often referred to as “a la prima.”
These drawings are usually completed within a matter of hours,
although John was known to spend a couple of days or more on a
coloured drawing. A full-fledged John Molnar painting
is much more complex with many more subtleties, and can
take anywhere from a two weeks to several months to complete.
