What's the difference between
a coloured sketch and a painting?

Generally, a coloured sketch is done in one sitting,
which is often referred to as “a la prima.”
These sketches are usually completed within a matter of hours,
although John has been known to spend a couple of days
on a coloured sketch. A full-fledged John Molnar painting
is much more complex with many more subtleties, and can
take anywhere from a two weeks to several months to complete.
